Artist Kiyomizu Kyubei

Biography Kiyomizu Kyubei (1922–2006) was a potter born in Aichi. His original family name was Tsukamoto, and his given name was Hiroshi. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at Nagoya Higher Technical School. After World War II, he studied sculpture in the Metal Engraving Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts. He was adopted by the sixth Kiyomizu Rokubei and succeeded as the seventh generation Kiyomizu Rokubei. From 1967, he devoted himself to sculpture and took the name Kyubei. He created works using metal materials such as aluminum and stainless steel.
