Biography So Shiseki (1715-1786) was a Japanese painter born in Edo (present Tokyo) and the father of So Shizan(painter). Learned the painting under Kumashiro Yuhi and So Shigan (Qing painter) in Nagasaki. Excelled at Landscape and flower-and-plant paintings. Promoted the ketching style of brid-and-flower paintings derived from the Nanpin School in Edo. His son was a painter, So Shizan.
