Title Summer Landscape (1777)
Biography Yosa Buson (1716-1783) was a Japanese Haiku poet, born in Settsu (current Osaka Prefecture) province. Originally named Taniguchi, he used many pseudonym in both poetery and painting. He studied Haiku under Hayano Hajin and when Hayano passed away, he then called himself "Buson" as his Haiku pseudonym. After his 10 years journey, he settled down in Kyoto and began to use the sir name "Yosa". As a Haiku poet, at the age of 55, he suceeds his master's name and strated to use " yahantei" as his Haiku pseudonym. For painting, he studied the painting under Sakaki Hyakusen and his pupils includes Goshun, Kito, Gekkyo. He achieved a remarkable success as a Japanese literature painter with Ike Taiga.
