Biography Taichu-shonin(1552-1639) was a monk of Jodoshin-shu sect born in Mutsu Province(Aomori Prefecture).Ryoujou as posthumous name, also known by the art name, Benrenja. Traveled to Ryukyu (current Okinawa prefecture) in 1603 and devoted to missionary activities promoting Nenbutsu under King Shounei during his 3 years stay. After returning from Ryukyu, he engaged in missionary activites including the promotion of Nantosanmandara in both, Kyoto prefecture and Nara prefecture. he is also a founder of the Danno Horin-ji temple.
